Sgt Frank.W.Hamilton 2719458

Frank's son Terry wrote to me recently :

My Father, Sgt F.W.Hamilton 2719458, served with the 1st Battalion Irish Guards from 1939-1945, and saw action in North Africa (he was best mates with L/Cpl John Patrick Kenneally V.C.)  and Italy, (among other locations).

He fought, and was wounded in the invasion of Anzio, and after many months in hospital, sent to the allied P.O.W. camp at Bergen-Belsen.
A long story follows
(currently being published in the Irish Guards Journal) but he eventually escaped and made his way back home to Blighty.

He and my Mother married in 1946 (on Paddys’ Day – when else !!!)
This year is their Diamond Wedding Anniversary.

Dad is an avid follower of all things relating to “The Micks”, and would be thrilled if        their “Special Occasion” was acknowledged by his beloved Irish Guards !

Here are a couple of photos from his Album

Dad is on the extreme left of this group photo

Again, Dad is on the extreme left but in the back row.

I am sure that my Father would be delighted to hear from any of his old mates, especially those who appear on the above photographs.

Terry Hamilton

Congratulations from Ivor's Website,
Wishing you both a very Happy Day
