Hi Ivor,
My father Patrick Joseph Cullinan is a former
member of the Irish Guards. I am currently doing a lot of tracing of family
roots and information about my nearest and dearest. I would love to know more
about his history in the Guards and although suffering from Alzheimers
presently, his long term memory seems reasonable at times. He came from Belfast
and joined on 9/2/1945. His service number was 2725772. He served for over 20
years and by all accounts was an excellent boxer in his Guards time. His first
service was seen in Palestine where he was injured by a land mine.
I am
really interested in any recollections out there and would appreciate any advice
as to how I can obtain old photo's etc. Patrick Joseph Cullinan joined the
Irish Guards on 9th February 1945. He trained at Pirbright until 14th Oct 1945,
he tells me he was in a Charlie Gallagher's squad. From there his records show
service in :--
NW Europe 1945-1947
Palestine 1948 Tripoli 1948 Germany / UK 48-1963 Aden 1964 to
1966
Any advice your visitors can give me would be greatly
appreciated.
Many thanks
Paul Cullinan
