2724470 Ivan Burman enlisted 16th. March 1944. After Caterham trained at Fairmile Head Edinburgh,
Then to Hobbs Barracks Lingfield, and Stobs Barracks Hawick Scotland (again).
Then to North West Europe 24th. April 1945, for various duties guarding dumps, vehicles, gasoline, ammonition, and some prisoners and displaced persons.
    Setting up Mess for the "Farewell to Armour Parade" (what a thrill to witness). HQ Sqn. Gds. Div.3 October 1945 .A Branch at Bad Godesburg where the garden photo was taken.
   Moved with them up to Plon in Schleswig Holstein to a former Naval Barracks. With a name change to HQ Schleswig Holstein Sub Area, 'A' Branch, It was a fairly new  and as you can see had had all good facilities and shortly after - sheets !   `Til 18th October 1947 enjoyed them all, but mostly the boating activities.
Got my first taste of Opera from a traveling Opera Company in our own Concert Hall.
Alltogether an enjoyable finish to my National Service

      Our fleet of `Dragons` -- and there were a few Sculls Motor boats to keep us amused when not working.  Oh the drudge of having those 'out of work' hours at weekends ! 
 

This was the most important building at HQ Guards Div/sub area.
