Great web site, and thanks for your efforts. My Dad, Jeremiah (Jerry) Dempsey , served in the Irish Guards in WW2 with his brother, Edward (Ned). I believe Dad was involved at Anzio. He used to tell a story about getting captured and escaping by swimming across a river or lake, getting shot in both legs in the process. He did have marks on his legs to suggest the story was true! I am planning to write a novel and would be grateful for any information anyone might have that might throw any light on my Dad's taking part in any action. My Dad died in 1966 of lung cancer. My Uncle, Ned, passed away about five years ago. They both had great charm and personality so might well be remembered by a fellow soldier or two. Both were made up to Sargeants by the end of the War. It has been mentioned that my Dad was due to get his commission but was a prisoner of war so missed out.

Ivor, although surfing through your site has not produced any luck for me in my research, it looks great and is a very valuable contribution to lots of people.

Many thanks,
Jonathon Dempsey
